The design department comprises of four CAD stations capable of 2D draughting, wire frame, surfacing and parametric solid modelling; using modern software.

We have two stations capable of 3 axis CNC programming from in house or customer data, in addition to Wire EDM programming which is also directly linked to the machinery.

The design department also makes increasing use of its Reverse Engineering technology via the Renishaw ‘Cyclone 2’ 3D scanner and TraceCut programs.  This is where a customer’s items such as die forms and sculpted objects (where CAD data or drawings are unavailable) can be replicated and CNC programmed direct from the object through the direct link to the CNC machinery.

The design department has full networked broadband internet, email and fax capabilities, plus modern colour inkjet printers up to and including A0 sites.

CAD Data exchange formats include Automat DWG, IGES, DXF, SAT, STEP and Parasolid sent via CD/DVD discs, 3.5" floppy discs, USB hard drives and email.
